Pasture Renovation - Tallangatta Valley
"Carinya", a Beefcorp property in the Tallangatta Valley, is managed Paul O'Reilly and is located in a 1000 mm rainfall region with very hot summers. In renovating pastures here we prefer to direct drill in the autumn rather than work up paddocks for a summer fodder crop. This paddock was sprayed out with Roundup in June 2004 after a late autumn break, and direct drilled with a Connor Shea "Baker boot" drill. We are trialing two different Ryegrasses in this paddock - Feast 11, a Tetraploid Italian Ryegrass and Banquet, a Tetraploid Perennial Ryegrass. This photo was taken in August 2004.
